As Europe's leading agricultural power, France is the second largest consumer of pesticides after Spain, with around 70,000 tonnes of substances purchased on average each year.

This model is based on agriculture intensified by decades of public policies favoring yields at the expense of public health and the environment. Far from blaming farmers, trapped by this system, we call on the State, which has the responsibility to redirect these practices.

Urgent action is needed in the face of a triple health, ecological, and economic crisis, as setbacks mount. The Duplomb bill, passed on January 27 in the Senate and examined in the Assembly at the end of May, promotes the weakening of the French National Agency for Food, Environmental, and Occupational Health and Safety (ANSES) and the reauthorization of neonicotinoids. However, these measures are far from unanimous: in a recent poll, 83% of French people want to maintain the ban on neonicotinoids and 66% want to preserve the powers of ANSES.
